Residencia

Seleccionada como parte de nuestra Convocatoria Internacional Artes Vivas, la artista portuguesa Cristina Planas trabajará en torno a los conceptos de resistencia, sobrevivencia y permanencia a partir de binarios desde el foco de la danza. 

UM [unimal] es un solo que evoca la idea de cómo un solo cuerpo puede representar la colectividad y al historia común, a través de una macro-investigación sobre el lugar de la danza, específicamente en las danzas de resistencia y aquellas que nacen de los movimientos sociales y politicos, y el impacto en la forma en que los cuerpos sobreviven y se manifiestan en la actualidad. El tema principal, la SOBREVIVIENCIA gatilla el trabajo de dos sub-temáticas: la SUBSISTENCIA, luego del desaparecer (lo cual mantiene la conexión con su pieza anterior FM [featuring mortuum]), y la PERMANENCIA  de las tradiciones del pasado, a través de la investigación de movimientos de resistencia que se levantan como un esfuerzo estructurado y colectivo en contra la autoridad instalada. UM [unimal] busca investigar una fisicalidad continúa entre la virtuosidad de los límites sobre un cuerpo que lucha por mantenerse en el escenario y cuya perseverancia y cansancio contamina y atrae, como un gladiador en la arena o como el maratonista en una competencia o como quien escala.

La fisicalidad explorada es el MARCHing (MARCHar). El marchaR es una forma de develar en el camina la representación del movimiento actual y el realizarlo significa la repetición de un cuerpo organizado, que se mueve hacia adelante de manera regular y deliberada. Históricamente marchar emerge de ambos contextos de opresión y liberación, en ambos lados de la resistencia, donde hay una necesidad de cambio y de avanzar.  La pregunta que emerge es ¿cómo la marcha se puede convertir en un movimiento?

 Selected as part of our International Open Call on Artes Vivas, the Portuguese artist Cristina Planas will work on the concepts of resistance, survival and permanency starting from the binaries present in the dancing perspective

UM [unimal] is a solo evoquing the idea of how a single body can represent the collectivity and the common history through a macro-investigation on the role of dancing. Specifically, the artwork focuses on resistance dances and those emerging from social and political movements, and on their impact on the way in which bodies survive and manifest themselves in the present. The main theme, the SURVIVAL triggers the work of two sub-themes: the SUBSISTENCE, after the disappearance (which maintains the link with her previous piece FM [featuring mortuum]), and the PERMANENCY of past traditions. PERMANENCY is developed  through the investigation of resistance movements raised both as a structural and collective attempt against the established authorities. UM [unimal] aims to investigate the continuous physicality between the virtuosity of the limits of the body fighting to maintain itself on the scene which perseverance and tiredness contaminates and attracts, as a gladiator in the arena or like the marathonist in a competition or like a climber.

The physicality explored is the MARCHing. MARCHing is a way of disclosing, during its process, the representation of the actual movement and its conduction means the repetition of a organised body, which is moving forwards in a regular and deliberate way. Historically, marching emerges from both the contexts of oppression and liberation, on both sides of resistance, where there is the necessity of changing and moving forwards. The question is: how can the march be converted into movement.
